Birds Of Prey

from Bluebird Days II by Scott Cooley

/

about

A folk rocker not about the downhill run at Beaver Creek, but instead about women who charm and swindle men out of their money.

lyrics

"Birds Of Prey"

Music & Lyrics by Scott Cooley.

Some women are conniving, always thriving off men

Surviving on roosters is the way of the hen

Using, abusing as they rake in filthy cash

They'll milk you dry, then toss you out like trash

Don’t these chicks ever wonder why

It’s always grey when they notice the sky

When an honest life of love has passed them by

Maybe someday these doves are gonna cry

They may act like love birds, but they're predators inside

They hunt and they feed, then they find another guy

They know your weakness, they know just what to say

They steal your heart, break it, then they fly away

They might look like birds of paradise, but they're really birds of prey

Always scheming, and dreaming of a better life

From a mile away, they've got you in their sights

Thinkin' of themselves, hoodwinkin' 'till they're done

Snatch it all except you, and never need to use a gun

It's too late when you finally open your eyes

And realize that they robbed you blind

Like feathers and wings, their looks are a disguise

Eventually you'll see they're hidin' what's inside

They may act like love birds, but they're predators inside

They hunt and they feed, then they find another guy

They know your weakness, they know just what to say

They steal your heart, break it, then they fly away

They might look like birds of paradise, but they're really birds of prey

They get away with it, but misery loves company

Deserve to nest with themselves for eternity

They swoop in and pretend to be something they're not

They never want to work to earn what they've got

When they're desperate, they take you for a ride

Don't care who they hurt, but they've got pain inside

They take the easy way out, they cheat, then they fly

Don't admit when they're wrong, never try to make it right

They may act like love birds, but they're predators inside

They hunt and they feed, then they find another guy

They know your weakness, they know just what to say

They steal your heart, break it, then they fly away

They might look like birds of paradise, but they're really birds of prey

You get free but they can't 'cause they're livin' a lie

Their punishment is eatin' humble pie

Stuck alone in a cage with their conscience every day

To save face they gotta fake it while they live in shame

They might look like birds of paradise, but they're really birds of prey
