Feather In Cap

from Bluebird Days II by Scott Cooley

/

about

A folk rocker with an interesting take on what it means both literally and metaphorically for a person to have feathers in one's cap.

lyrics

"Feather In Cap"

Music & Lyrics by Scott Cooley.

Sometimes a feather in cap, is not what you think

Could be a symbol of a bird brain or possibly a head shrink

A matter of perception, it's more than meets the eyes

Could be worn as a crown on the chief of the bad guys

It's not always deserved, it's not always earned

It could be a warning, or a cause for concern

Could be a gift, or ill-gotten from deceit

Maybe worn by a poacher who steals, lies or cheats

Feather in cap, a curious tradition

A bad style choice, a cause for suspicion

A mark of ambition, a notch of attrition

A sign of aggression, surprise or submission

Most likely worn by someone who's just about to snap

Feather in cap.......feather in cap

When it's worn proudly, on the head of a poseur

There might be unresolved issues, in need of closure

When it's not honest, it's not a feather in cap at all

But instead a dead symbol of a soul that's weak and small

When you first see a headdress, can't help but be impressed

He who bags the first game is a killer at best

All success and achievement in hunting or war

Comes with the price of bloodshed, horror and gore

Feather in cap, a curious tradition

A bad style choice, a cause for suspicion

A mark of ambition, a notch of attrition

A sign of aggression, surprise or submission

Most likely worn by someone who's just about to snap

Feather in cap.......feather in cap

spoken: pluck it, let it float...

For every great warrior, for every scalp taken

It may mean they're someone their friends have forsaken

If you think it means good luck, be wary it's a trap

It's a sign of desperation, to wear a feather in cap

When they have to advertise every kill with a quill

They're begging for respect, but they'll never get fulfilled

Could be a sign from heaven, angry gods in the sky

A message from the spirit world, a word from the wise

Feather in cap, a curious tradition

A bad style choice, a cause for suspicion

A mark of ambition, a notch of attrition

A sign of aggression, surprise or submission

Most likely worn by someone who's just about to snap

Feather in cap.......feather in cap
